Science Academies' Summer Research Fellowship Programme for Students and Teachers 2008

The Science Education Panel of the three Science Academies offers several two-month Summer Fellowships to enable students/teachers to work with the Fellows of the three Academies during 2008. Attached is a list of Fellows who are willing to accept students/teachers for work on short-term projects.

Proposals are invited from interested students and teachers from colleges affiliated to UGC/AICTE/MCI/State Universities accredited institutions for these Fellowships. The proposal should include a brief resume of the applicant (see format), a one-page description of the planned activity, the Fellow with whom the applicant would like to work (please give names of at least three Fellows in order of preference) and the tentative dates of visit as convenient to the applicant. The plan of work should clearly state the specific experiment or theory that the applicant would like to work on and NOT a general description of the area. Student applicants should include a recommendation letter from the teacher (in the enclosed form) familiar with their work, in a sealed envelope. The candidate may work in consultation with the assigned guide for two months any time during the academic year, preferably in the summer.

Applications can be submitted online through our website (www.ias.ac.in) (www.insaindia.org) (www.nasi.org.in) ; however a copy of the application together with enclosures has to be sent by post to The Executive Secretary, Indian Academy of Sciences, C.V. Raman Avenue, Post Box No. 8005, Sadashivanagar P.O., Bangalore 560 080. The online registration number available soon after uploading must be quoted in the hard copy of the application and the letter of recommendation to be forwarded by the teacher in case of student applicants.

The last date for receipt of applications is 15 January 2008.

Information of selection along with concurrence of the Fellow will be despatched by early March, 2008. The selected students/teachers will be provided appropriate round trip train fare and an honorarium to meet the boarding and lodging expenses at the place of work.
